-In Kerala, as the countdown for the upcoming assembly  polls has began the election campaigning  is in full swing,  with the national  leaders  of major fronts actively campaigning. BJP National President J P Nadda on Saturday campaigned for  NDA candidates in Thrissur, Kannur, Ernakulam and Idukki districts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit  Palakkad on April 30 where the NDA's  prominent candidate E.Sreedharan is contesting. In LDF, when CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and Polit Bureau member Prakash Karat is actively campaigning, In UDF,  Rahul Gandhi is presently in Kerala and Priyanka Gandhi will  visit the State on 30th and 31st of this month. Meanwhile the postal voting for those in essential services  will begin from Sunday The polling will happen at special  polling booths set up at respective constituencies till April 30 abiding to strict covid protocols.

-Online Registration for Admission to Class I in Kendriya Vidyalayas for the Academic Year 2021-2022 will commence from April 1.Registrations for Class II and above will be done from 8th April in offline mode.For Class I, online registrations will begin at 10:00 am on 1st April and till close at 7:00 pm on 19th April.The Admission details can be obtained through website and also through Android Mobile App. Registration for Class II and above will be invited on the basis of availability of seats from April 8 to April 15 in offline mode.For Class XI, registration forms may be downloaded from Vidyalaya Website as per the schedule for admission 2021-2022. Reckoning of age for all Classes shall be as on 31st March.

-On the occasion of the birth centenary of the founding father of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, renowned vocalist Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty has composed a new Raag named ‘Moitree’ as a tribute to the Bangabandhu.The new Raag is dedicated to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman  with elements of ‘maitree’ or India Bangladesh friendship. It is a newly composed Raag incorporating the classical rules for the composition of Raag. Three compositions will be presented which are written in Sanskrit, Hindi and Bengali languages. The Sanskrit one is composed by Dr. Arindam Chakraborti, Professor at the Hawaii University in USA. The Hindi lyric is composed by Dr. Susmita Basu Majumder and developed by Dr. Ravi Burman, and the Bengali song is written by the disciple of Pt. Ajay Chakrabarty and young maestro Anal Chatterjee. All the three songs are composed by Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty. The compositions contain references to the 50 years of liberation of Bangladesh and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. 

-In Badminton, Indian men's double pair of Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnu Vardhan will clash with English pair Ben Lane  and Sean Vendy in the final of the Orleans Masters tournament in Paris on Sunday.In the Semifinal on Saturday, Indian pair beat England's Callum Hemming and Steve Stallwood in the semi finals 21-17, 21-17.However, in mixed doubles semifinals, Indian duo Ashwini Ponnappa and Dhruv Kapila were beaten by Niclas Nohr and Amalie Magelund by 9-21, 21-23, 7-21.Earlier, in Women's doubles, the Indian pair of Ahwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy crashed out of the competition after losing in the semifinal against Thailand's Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajoigjai by 18-21, 9-21.Saina Nehwal also lost to Line Chrishtopherson in the Women's Singles semi-final of the tournament by 17-21, 17-21.
