The Delhi police have arrested two persons in connection with fire incident.The owners of the company -- Harish Goel and Varun Goel -- have been arrested, police said. Their father Amarnath Goel was among those who were killed in the fire. The owner of the building, which did not have safety clearance from the fire department, has been identified as Manish Lakra and he is on the run, police said. At least 27 people died and 12 were injured after a fire broke out in a four-storey commercial building in west Delhi's Mundka on Friday evening, Delhi Fire officials said, 12 got injured in the incident and the number of deceased could be increased as several body parts of people have been found from the spot. The fire broke out in a commercial building located near Mundka metro station.
The fire started on the first floor of the building, which houses the office of a CCTV camera and router manufacturing company. Around 30 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flame and the fire fighting operation has been concluded. The rescue operation is still underway in the area. The NDRF team has also reached the spot. Talking to media, Delhi Police DCP, Sameer Sharma said, over 50 people have been rescued so far. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.
President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi are among the several politicians to mourn the loss of lives in the tragic incident. The Prime Minister has said that Rs 2 lakh each will be given to the families of those who lost their lives. The injured will be given Rs 50,000. Home Minister Amit Shah said that he is in constant touch with the authorities and that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been pressed into service.
