The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday released its list of 14 candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections which are scheduled to take place on February 27.The list released by the ruling party included former Union minister R P N Singh and outgoing MP Sudhanshu Trivedi from Uttar Pradesh. Other party leaders from UP include Amarpal Maurya, Sadhna Singh, Chaudhary Tejveer Singh, Sangita Balwant and Navin Jain. Except for Sudhanshu Trivedi, none of the nine outgoing BJP MPs from Uttar Pradesh including Anil Jain, Anil Agrawal and G V L Narasimha Rao has been renominated.
In Bihar, which has six seats, the BJP, which is again in alliance with Nitish Kumar's JDU, has named Dharmsheela Gupta and Bhim Singh. Notably, Sushil Kumar Modi's name is missing in this list.In Chhattisgarh, where the BJP handed Congress a shock defeat in the recently held state polls, it has named Raja Devendra Pratap Singh. Singh is from the erstwhile Gond royal family and replaces Saroj Pandey.In Haryana the party will field its former state chief Subhash Barala, a Jat; while in Karnataka, it is Narayana Krishanasa Bhandage.

Even Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who represents Karnataka in Rajya Sabha, and BJP chief spokesperson and media head Anil Baluni, the outgoing MP from Uttarakhand, were not named in the list.
Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) announced the names of journalist Sagarika Ghose, party leader Sushmita Dev and two others for the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls from the state. Mamata Bala Thakur and Mohammed Nadimal Haque were other two candidates nominated by the party for the Upper House.
