Assam:G-20 RIIG Conference begins in Dibrugarh

In Assam, the G20 Research and Innovation Initiative Gathering (RIIG) Conference on Circular Bio-Economy has kicked off on Friday in Dibrugarh. This G20 RIIG Conference will deliberate on ways to create a circular bio-economy to ensure resource efficiency, sustainability, and reduction in carbon emissions. In his inaugural speech as the Chair of the G20 Research and Innovation Initiative conference,  Dr. S Chandrasekhar, Secretary, the Department of Science and Technology said that integration of circular economy and bio-economy is necessary for sustainable economic growth. He added that circular economy and bio-economy are inter-related and instead of looking at them as separate entities, we should aim for mutually beneficial complementary collaboration between them. The conference comes at a time when sustainable and circular bio-economy is a priority for many countries.

The conference brings together national authorities and experts responsible for planning, setting up new, and managing existing programs on sustainable bio-economy. 103 delegates from G20 member countries, 9 guest countries, and International organizations, along with invited participants from the scientific community are participating in the conference. The outcomes of the conference will be important for policymakers, researchers, and businesses as they seek to find sustainable and effective ways to manage the world’s resources.
