In Bihar, Nitish Kumar government on Monday won the vote of confidence in the State Assembly. In the 243 members house, 129 members supported the motion. Opposition RJD, Congress and Left parties boycotted the voting process. Amid the absence of opposition parties, the motion was adopted in favour of Nitish Government. Deputy Speaker Maheshwar Hazari presided over the proceedings of the House.The final score was 130-0 in favour of the JDU-BJP alliance, which also managed to flip three vote from Yadav's RJD. The majority mark in the 243-member Assembly was set at 122.
Earlier Awadh Bihari Choudhary was removed as Speaker; he failed a no-confidence motion of his own, with 125 members voting to sack him. Choudhary is from the RJD, which was dumped last month by Nitish Kumar, less than two years after he cut ties with the BJP.The 'Mahagathbandhan' suffered a double jolt after three RJD MLAs -- Neelam Devi, Chetan Anand and Pralhad Yadav -- defected from the party and joined Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar.After winning the floor test, Nitish Kumar slammed his former deputy alleging that the RJD indulged in corrupt practices during the party’s rule in the state, and the new NDA-led government will initiate a probe into it. "There was no law and order. The RJD indulged in corrupt practices during its rule (before 2005)... I will get these probed,” he said."Before this, his father and mother got the chance to work, what happened in Bihar then? Would anybody dare to go out at night at that time? Was there any road?," he said in his emotive speech.
"I gave them respect but was in pain when I came to know about their malpractices," he added. Nitish Kumar further said he is back to his old place and the alliance, and he will never leave them.Referring to the INDIA bloc, he said he tried to bring every party together but to no avail.He also claimed RJD leaders were trying to take the credit for JD(U)'s work.Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and former Minister Nand Kishore Yadav chosen the nominee of NDA for the post of the Speaker of Bihar Assembly. He will file nomination papers on Tuesday.
