Poshan Abhiyan should be implemented in mission mode: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that Poshan Abhiyan should be implemented in mission mode in each state with a whole of government approach. While reviewing the Poshan Abhiyaan during the 39th PRAGATI Interaction on Wednesday in New Delhi, Modi talked about participation of Self-Help Groups SHGs and other local organizations in promoting awareness about children’s health and nutrition at the grassroot level, which will help in improving the reach and uptake of the Abhiyaan.
In the meeting, nine agenda items were taken for review including eight projects.  Among the projects, three projects were from the Ministry of Railways, two projects each were from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Ministry of Power and one project was from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. These eight projects, having a cumulative cost of about 20 thousand crore rupees are concerning seven states, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and West Bengal. Prime Minister stressed upon timely completion of projects to avoid cost overruns.

-Union Cabinet has approved continuation of National Apprenticeship Training Scheme for next five years. The cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, accorded its approval for stipendiary support of three thousand 54 crore rupees to apprentices who undergo apprenticeship training under National Apprenticeship Training Scheme for the period from 2021-22 to 2025-26. Approximately nine lakhs apprentices will be trained by industry and commercial organisations. The scheme is a well-established scheme of Government of India which has demonstrated to enhance the employability of students who have successfully completed the apprenticeship training. The apprentices who have completed graduate and diploma programme in Engineering, Humanities, Science and Commerce will be given stipend of nine thousand and eight thousand rupees per month respectively.

-In Gujarat, about 20 thousand government schools will be transformed under the Mission School of Excellence programme during the next five years. The World Bank Mission team is on a 4 day visit to Gujarat to work out the details of the project. The World Bank representatives met the state Education Minister Jitubhai Vaghani at Gandhinagar in this regard. The team will also visit Banaskantha and Mehsana districts in coming days. According to official sources, 8,000 crore rupees fund will be provided by the World Bank and Asian Infrastructure Development Bank (AIDB) under this project. 90 percent students studying in the Government schools will be benefited under this project.

-In Ladakh under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), organised one day free orthopaedic and Cardiac Camp at Drass Substation, the world’s second coldest inhabited Place in the world. Around 100 persons from the four villages of Drass i.e. Beras, Muradbagh, Holyial and Trongjun benefitted from the camp. On the request of POWERGRID, CMO, Kargil had deputed Dr. Shujat and Dr. Zameer for this camp. Free medicines were also distributed in the camp. The beneficiaries and the local authorities thanked POWERGRID for organizing the camp. Power Grid Corporation of India Limited is a Maharatna Enterprise under Ministry of Power is engaged in inter-state bulk power transmission. Powergrid has 172,104 ckm of transmission lines, 264 Sub-stations and more than 464,292 MVA of transformation capacity. With the adoption of latest technological tools and techniques, enhanced use of automation and digital solutions, Powergrid has been able to maintain average transmission system availability.

-The nation will celebrate Constitution Day on Friday to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly in 1949. The observation of Constitution Day started in 2015, based on the vision of the Prime Minister to give due recognition to the significance of this historic date. The roots of this vision can also be traced back to the Samvidhan Gaurav Yatra organised by Mr Modi in 2010 when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat. As a part of Constitution Day celebrations this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the programmes being organised in Parliament and Vigyan Bhawan on Friday. The programme organized in Parliament will begin at 11 AM and will be held in the Central Hall of Parliament. It will be addressed by President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. After the speech of the President, the nation will join him Live, in reading the Preamble of the Constitution. The President will also release the digital version of Constituent Assembly Debates, digital version of calligraphed copy of Constitution of India and d version of the Constitution of India that will include all  amendments till date. He will also inaugurate Online Quiz on Constitutional Democracy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the two day Constitution Day celebrations organised by the Supreme Court at 5:30 in the evening in Plenary Hall of Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. All Judges of the Supreme Court, Chief Justices of all High Courts and senior-most  Judges, Solicitor General of India and other members of the legal fraternity will be present on the occasion. The Prime Minister will also address the distinguished gathering.
