India's exports in December estimated to be 57.87 bn US dollars

Country’s overall exports, Merchandise and Services combined in December 2021 are estimated to be 57.87 Billion US dollar, exhibiting a positive growth of 25.05 per cent over the same period last year. Overall imports in December 2021 are estimated to be 72.35 Billion US dollar, exhibiting a positive growth of 33.86 per cent over the same period last year.India’s overall exports , Merchandise and Services combined  in April-December 2021 are estimated to be 479  Billion US Dollar exhibiting a positive growth of 36.31 per cent over the same period last year . Data released by Commerce ministry said, overall imports in April-December 2021 are estimated to be 547.12 Billion US dollar, exhibiting a positive growth of 57.33 per cent over the same period last year.Merchandise exports in December 2021 were 37.81 Billion US dollar, as compared to 27.22 Billion US dollar in December 2020, exhibiting a positive growth of 38.91 per cent. As compared to December 2019, exports in December 2021 exhibited a positive growth of 39.47 per cent.

-Ministry of Railways has paid all the ex- gratia amounts to the next of the kin of those lost their lives in the Thursday's train accident as well as to the injured. Guwahati-Bikaner express train derailed yesterday near New Domohani Railway station in West Bengal. Team of Railways made  arrangements overnight and made the ex-gratia payments in the shortest possible time .The Railways has paid an ex-gratia amount of Rs  5 lakh each to the next of kin of 9 persons who have lost their lives in the accident.  In case of grievous injuries, an amount of one lakh rupees  was paid to 10 persons each. 25 thousand rupees was given to 26 persons who sustained simple injuries. 

-The Monumental National Flag, which is the world’s largest national flag made of Khadi fabric, will be put to a grand public display along the India - Pakistan Border at Longewala in Jaisalmer to celebrate “Army Day” on Saturday. Longewala was the center stage of the historic battle between India and Pakistan in 1971.The Flag, which symbolizes the collective spirit of Indianness and the heritage artisanal craft of Khadi, has been conceptualized and prepared by Khadi and Village Industries Commission, KVIC, to celebrate 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav'- 75 years of Independence. KVIC has handed over the flag to the Defence forces for displaying the same at prominent places on historic occasions.

-Former ministers in Uttar Pradesh government Swami Prasad Maurya and Dharam Singh Saini formally joined the Samajwadi Party today along with six other MLAs and supporters. MLAs who joined Samajwadi Party on Friday include Bhagwati Sagar, Roshanlal Verma, Vinay Shakya, Brijesh Kumar Prajapati and Mukesh Verma and one MLA of Apna Dal (Sonelal)  Chaudhary Amar Singh. Meanwhile, the Police have filed an FIR against the Samajwadi Party at Gautampalli police station in Lucknow for violating Model Code of Conduct and Covid protocols during the virtual rally, where a large crowd had gathered. The Election Commission has announced a total ban on rallies and gatherings till January 15.

-The Calcutta High Court has directed the West Bengal Election Commission to consider postponing civic body polls for 4-6 weeks due to rising Covid cases. The Commission has been given 48 hours to clear its stand on the matter. Elections are due in seven municipal corporations in West Bengal- Asansol Municipal Corporation, Bidhan Nagar Municipal Corporation, Chandernagore Municipal Corporation, Durgapore Municipal Corporation, Howrah Municipal Corporation and Siliguri Municipal Corporation. Elections in four municipal corporations Asansol, Bidahnnagar, Siliguri and Chandannagar were supposed to be held on January 22, and counting of votes was scheduled on January 25. 

-Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corp (BMC) has become the only municipal corporation in the world to have more than 80 citizen-based services on WhatsApp chatbot, offering services for citizens, tourists, and businesses in the city. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday virtually launched this servicce. Thackeray said that Mumbai is the number one municipal corporation in the country, which has given more than 80 services to the citizens at their doorstep. According to BMC, through the chatbot on WhatsApp number 8999-22-8999, information about more than 80 services and facilities will be easily available to citizens on their mobiles.
